Answers to Common Franchise Ownership Questions

I believe in transparency, and I know exploring business ownership comes with a lot of questions. Below are some of the most common topics that come up when people begin the franchise discovery process. My goal is to make this experience clear, straightforward, and educational so you can move forward with confidence when the time is right for you.

Do you work with international candidates?

I currently work with clients based in the United States who are exploring U.S. franchise opportunities. However, many of the brands I represent are expanding internationally, and I can connect you with the right resources if you are based outside the U.S. or exploring cross-border opportunities.

What if I am just gathering information right now?

Perfect. That is exactly what this process is for. You can start by taking the Franchise Readiness Quiz to see where you stand, or schedule a short Discovery Call to ask questions and get clarity before you dive in.

What happens after I choose a franchise?

Once you decide to move forward, you will work directly with the franchisor’s onboarding and support teams. I will ensure you are connected with the right people and that your transition is clear and well organized. If you decide not to move forward, that is equally valuable as it means you made a confident, informed decision.

Is there any obligation to work with you?

None at all. You are in full control of your process. You can pause, continue, or step away at any time. My role is to guide, not persuade. Everything we do is based on your timeline and comfort level.

How will I know if this process is working for me?

You’ll know because you’ll feel informed, not pressured. Each step of the process builds clarity around your goals, investment level, and lifestyle fit. Over the past decade, I have worked with thousands of candidates and supported dozens of franchise brands. My process is built on structure and transparency, not sales tactics. Even if you decide franchising is not the right fit, you will finish the process with more clarity about what business ownership could look like for you.

Is a franchise better than starting an independent business?

It depends on your goals, risk tolerance, and experience. Franchising offers structure, proven systems, and support, while independent businesses offer more flexibility but also more uncertainty. I help you weigh both paths objectively so you can make the decision that best aligns with your priorities and comfort level.

Why would I work with you instead of contacting franchises directly?

You can contact brands directly, but it often takes much longer and can feel overwhelming. I help you navigate the process efficiently by identifying brands that fit your goals, qualifications, and local availability. Because I have relationships with hundreds of franchisors, I can give you insight into how each system operates and what to expect before you ever make contact.

What if I am not sure I am ready to own a business?

That is completely okay. Most people begin with curiosity, not certainty. The discovery process is designed to help you learn about ownership without pressure. My role is to help you understand what franchising looks like day to day so you can decide if and when it is the right path for you.

What kinds of franchises do you work with?

I work across a wide range of industries including home services, fitness and wellness, food and beverage, automotive, education, and professional services. My focus is on brands that are well structured, compliant, and ready to support new owners, not just what is popular or trendy.

How long does the process take?

Most clients move through the discovery process in about 8-12 weeks, depending on how quickly they review information and participate in calls with franchisors. My role is to keep the process organized and efficient so you never feel rushed but always know what is next.

Why do you need my financial information?

Franchise companies set minimum financial requirements to ensure new owners can successfully launch and sustain their business. You will never be asked for sensitive information like account numbers or Social Security details. Instead, you will provide a general picture of your net worth and available capital to help identify which brands are financially suitable for you.

How do you get paid?

My services are completely free to you. Like an executive recruiter, I am compensated by the franchise company when a placement is made. You will never pay more to work with me, and franchise fees remain the same whether I am involved or not. This structure is regulated by the Federal Trade Commission under federal franchise law.

What exactly do you do as a franchise consultant?

I help professionals and investors explore business ownership through franchising. My role is to educate, guide, and support you through a structured discovery process so you can make an informed, confident decision. I am not a salesperson. I am a consultant and educator who helps you evaluate if franchising is right for you, and if it is, which brands best fit your goals.

Franchise Readiness Quiz

If you did not see your question here, I would be happy to discuss it personally. My goal is to make the franchise exploration process as clear and comfortable as possible, no matter where you are in your journey.
